Why in News -: 
The banks of River Ganga are set to get a major facelift as several corporates have undertaken CSR projects for ghat cleaning and development, afforestation, provision of amenities and similar work under Namami Gange programme.
What is CSR -: 
Corporate Social Responsibility is defined as the work which is done by the Corporates to benefit the society as a whole. 

Role of Corporates in Ganga Rejuvenation Programme -: 
Ganga rejuvenation projects are notified as CSR activity under Companies Act 2013. 

Corporates can give donations to the Clean Ganga Fund and also take up projects for rejuvenating the river. 

There is a dedicated webpage for participation under CSR activity which lists projects like ghat/crematoria construction and development, cleaning of ghats, cleaning of drains through bioremediation, river surface cleaning, solid waste disposal, afforestation activities, setting up of Ganga Vatikas, adoption of Ganga Grams and I.E.C. activities which corporates can take up.

PowerTex India Scheme

Why in News -:  The Government is implementing  Power Tex India, a comprehensive scheme for power loom sector development. Under the scheme, existing plain powerlooms are upgraded to semi-automatic and shuttleless looms to improve quality and productivity, by providing financial assistance to powerloomunits. So far, more than 2.16 lakh looms have been upgraded in the country under the in-situ upgradation component of the scheme. Working Women Hostels Scheme

 About the Scheme -:  Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing Hostels for Working Women Scheme since 1972-73.  Objective -:  The Scheme aims at providing safe and affordable accommodation to working women. Features -:  These hostels have Day care facility for the children of inmates too.  As per the norms of the Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the eligible implementing organizations such as State Government agencies and Civil Society Organizations through concerned State Government.  There is also a provision of   one-time non-recurring grant @ Rs. 7500/- per inmate for purchase of furniture and furnishings.
